Start Learning Spanish Online

Learning a new language is neither easy or cheap. In fact, the cost can often run into the hundreds of dollars for courses and much more for classes. One of the best ways to learn that is affordable is online. For this article we are going to take a look at some of your options when it comes to learning Spanish online.

The first thing that crosses most peoples mind is if it is worth learning Spanish in the first place. The answer to that is almost always a yes. In fact, Spanish is now the second most spoken language in the United States. This makes it very useful when it comes to getting a job and just communicating with people in general. It is also a good language to learn for people who want to learn a second language. Spanish is fairly easy to learn if you are a English speaking person.

Learning to speak Spanish can get very costly. Most online courses will cost you in the hundreds. If you want to take online classes then things get even more expensive. The top of the line classes can cost into the low thousands at the high end. But not all is lost. There are many great tutorials online that you can go through for free. These free tutorials are often a great place for you to start.

Many of the free tutorials that I have gone through will give you audios that you can download. These audios can be burned to CD or you can upload them to your mp3 player for on the go. This allows for east learning for while you are working out or on your way to the work place. Like all things that are free these tutorials are not perfect, but they are a decent place for one to start.

A great way to start learning Spanish on a budget is by using an online translator. There are many of these online where you type in the word in English and it will give you the Spanish version of the same word. This is great for some basic work that you might be doing.

When all is said and done you won't be able to beat learning Spanish using an audio CD. This is where they teach you how to say an English word in Spanish. Nothing beats being able to hear the proper accent.

Learning Spanish With Subliminal Messaging

My wife and I moved to Spain two years ago. I am quite happy with my progress in getting into our wonderful new life here. I wouldn’t say my Spanish is really great but I do understand most of what people say to me and I can make myself understood mostly. Sandra on the other hand was becoming increasingly frustrated with herself because she couldn’t get her brain and her mouth to work together on Spanish. She knew French as a second language so a random mixture of French, Engish, and Spanish would regularly be spoken at first.

It was 100% unconscious with her and the more and more she tried the more and more embarrassed and frustrated she got and the worse she felt inside. Now she is a really smart person but she just couldn’t get past the Spanish mental block.

So I got her a ‘Subliminal Spanish CD’, which is a really simpl but effective language learning aid. She listens to it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night while she goes about her usual business. It does not help her to learn grammar, verbs or syntax in itself. It isn’t a 'talk at you in Spanish thing'.

What it is; is unconscious encouragement to speed up her learning. In addition to her studying and everyday absorption of Spanish it gradually removes the barriers to her brains absorption of the vocabulary etc. She has stopped stumbling over her words and is no longer reticent about talking to our Spanish friends, and swears by the subliminal messages! It has improved her vocabulary and her recall of words. She goes about her studies with added concentration and understanding, and is even talking about going on to Catalan Spanish now.

The Easiest Way To Get Fluent In Spanish

There are many different ways to learn Spanish and people learn in different ways, so be sure to choose the teaching method that suits your learning style. Once you solve that learning style problem, learning where and how to study can be easy. Three examples of different learning styles are given below:

Jayne wants to learn how to speak Spanish for her upcoming cheap holidays to Spain. She doesn't have a college degree, but she have taken many college classes because that's the way she learns. The best way for Jayne to learn Spanish is to enroll in an adult education Spanish class where she can get the organized instruction that helps her learn.

Darren is a builder who wants to learn how to speak Spanish so he can communicate with all of his workers and also get more out of his cheap holidays in Spain. He is too busy to go to school and sit in a classroom, and his schedule is too hectic to guarantee that he will be able to make it to class. The best way for Darren to learn Spanish is through Spanish language CDs that he can listen to in his car. By listening to the spoken phrases and repeating them aloud, he will learn Spanish using his own learning style at his own pace.

Ethel is a mother who wants to learn how to speak Spanish so she can do volunteer work with immigrant children and also enjoy her Spain holidays better. She learns by doing, so the best way for Ethel to learn to speak Spanish is to immerse herself in the language as it is spoken by natives. One easy way for Ethel to learn Spanish is for her to watch Spanish language soap operas, or telenovellas on Spanish-speaking cable or satellite TV stations. Destinos is one popular telenovella. Characters on Destinos speak slowly and clearly and use lots of dramatic hand gestures that will help Ethel figure out what's going on.

Basic Spanish Lessons

For most basic Spanish lessons the name of the game was to memorize as many words as you could, this is quite evident if you recall what your high school Spanish classes were like. While memorizing a long list of words from English to Spanish does increase your Spanish knowledge it doesn't do much if anything to improve your ability to be able to speak phrases and carry on conversations.

Easy words Aren't Always Useful

The words that are easy to learn in Spanish aren't always useful when you need to ask for directions or ask someone a question. It's rare that we can communicate our needs or wants with just a single word, it makes sense that we learn more then just hello, goodbye and good morning in Spanish.

Learn Phrases and Questions they're more useful

The main mode of communication is a set grouping of phrases and sentences they we each use day in and day out. It's this every day group of sentences you want to learn if you're goal is to become conversation in Spanish. Those phrases of course also contain some of those easy Spanish words you'd learn in regular high school Spanish class. How ever it's the group of words that you should focus on to be able to speak and communicate with others.

Some Memorization is OK

Earlier when I said memorization wasn't the right way to learn Spanish I wasn't suggesting that trying to remember things in Spanish was a bad idea.More what I meant was that just memorizing long lists of words in Spanish and understanding their meaning in English won't really help you speak the language.

If you love to memorize things and that's how you learn instead focus your energies on learning phrases that are spoken daily.

How Would I Learn Spanish?

The number one way to learn to speak Spanish is using a program that focuses on teaching you how to construct simple phrases and sentences. I've taken the time to compare most of the popular programs available online. The best value ends up being a learn Spanish audio course. The course I've found to do the best job you can read more about here in these Learning Spanish like Crazy reviews.

Learning Spanish With Online Language Programs

Spain lost control of its American colonies in the 1800s, but the Spanish language remained and is now the official language of almost every Latin American nation. The official language of Spain and 19 Latin American nations, Spanish is spoken as a first language by about 330 million persons and as a second language by perhaps another 50 million. It is the mother tongue of about 40 million people in Spain, where the language originated and whence it was later brought by Spanish explorers, colonists, and empire builders to the Western Hemisphere and other parts of the world during the last five centuries.

The best Spanish courses, one of which is described at this Rocket Spanish review, have been designed to build fluency in both the spoken and the written language. Learn Spanish Online

learn spanish fast

You can learn Spanish quick online, or at least the fundamentals. After all, you generally get what you pay for. However, some of the sites offering you the chance to learn Spanish free online have fairly good courses. Some of them are more or less comparable to courses costing a lot of money.

In this article, we will look at the quality of some of the sites where you can learn Spanish free online, and compare them with some of the well-known commercial Spanish tuition courses in the market.

By the time you are finished with this article, you should have all the information you need to weigh up whether you will benefit best from a decision to learn Spanish free online, or from a decision to purchase one of the many respected Spanish courses out in the market.

Many of the websites that come up in a search engine query for "learn Spanish free online" don't actually offer a totally free learning experience. This is not to say that they are deliberately misleading visitors, or acting in any way improper. They generally do offer free lessons, but often they are limited or very basic, concentrating on common phrases that most people already know.

Some of the sites claiming that you can learn Spanish free online don't actually reveal to you the entire story. You will find that you can pick up Spanish for free on the Net, but only so far. Once you find yourself in the momentum of learning, wishing to take the next step, you may find that you have to pay for it.

Is it possible to learn Spanish free online to a stage where you are able to converse naturally with native Spanish speaker? Perhaps, but it could be a bit of a struggle, though it would certainly depend on your determination. Even purchasing the finest Spanish learning program out there wouldn't automatically teach you Spanish without some significant effort and commitment on your part! That is just the way it is.

If you really want to learn Spanish free, then search for websites that don't immediately pitch you with their paid version of the course. Some sites do offer really useful learning materials. They often have words recorded that you can click to hear the exact pronunciation. This is really useful and can only be highly recommended.

However, for the person who is serious about learning Spanish, and who wants to be assured that the materials they use are only of the highest quality, then the option to learn Spanish free online is simply not an option. Among the many good Spanish courses available online, one shines above all the rest - Rocket Spanish.

The Rocket Spanish website offers you all you really need to know, but it is many times prudent to hear what others, especially satisfied customers, have to say as well. Look at some of the review sites on the Net, especially sites that give a balanced report, and not just an all-glowing report.

While it's definitely possible to learn Spanish free on the Net, and learn it well too, it is often much more convenient to learn Spanish through a paid course. You will find dedicated support this way, should you need it, and you probably will. If you decide to pick up Spanish for free on the Net you will probably find that there is no support whatsoever. The choice is yours!

Learning Helpful Spanish Greetings

learn Spanish quickly

When you initially begin to learn Spanish, Spanish greetings are usually the first things that you learn. What do you know if you don't know how to say "hello?" Practicing Spanish greetings will help you to learn Spanish quick in its simplest form because you don't have to mess around with all the verb agreements or word orders. Spanish greetings are expressed in simple phrases. No extra words need to be looked up or added. As I mentioned before, when you learn Spanish, the first phrase you need to know is "hello." When you say that in Spanish, you would say, "Hola."

"Hola" can be used both formally or casually to say hello to anyone you might meet. If you are trying to say hello on the phone, you might use "bueno" or "diga."

If you want to say "goodbye" in Spanish, you would say, "Adiós."

If you would like to say, "How are you?" you would say, "Cómo estás?" If you want to say, "Good afternoon." you would say, " Buenas tardes.". If you want to say, "Good morning" or "Good day," you would say, "Buenos días." "Good night" in Spanish is buenos noches, and to ask for somebody's name, you would say, "Cómo te llamas?"

Once you get these down, you will discover that easy to learn Spanish, but you are in for some more complex terms a little later on down the road. Other basics that you can start mastering are numbers, the alphabet, telling time, asking directions, gender, color, body parts, and family.

Picking up these kinds of common terms will help you learn Spanish quickly as you can use these phrases everyday. It is natural to hello and good night all of the time so you should be comfortable practicing your Spanish often.

Later on, you can learn to form more complex greetings like,  "Hello, how are you are you doing?" or "Hi, the weather is pleasant today, isn't it?"

You can begin to get a little more advanced by asking "What's up?" or "What's new?" When you say that in Spanish, you would say "Qué hay?" If you would like to say, "How's it going?" you would say, "Qué pasa?" If you wantto say "nice to meet you" you would say "Mucho gusto."

Those are just a few of the more intermediate level greetings that will help you to learn Spanish while getting to meet other people.

In Spain, it's often the norm for people to kiss each other on both cheeks when they meet. However, men will usually just shake hands. Even though people kiss each other often when they meet, they do not do it in every situation. For example, in the context of a business meeting, you would not catch people kissing each other on the cheeks.

If you are in the States, you may not want to try kissing anyone as you learn Spanish, even if it's another Spanish person. Most people of different cultures have gotten accustomed to the American culture, and Americans don't usually kiss each other when they first meet. Nevertheless, should you visit Spain, you can try this. It adds to the fun as you learn Spanish.

Spanish Courses For Kids

learn spanish quick

Spanish courses customized for children teach children Spanish in an interesting and easy way. It doesn't teach grammar and syntax in a direct manner. Children, like most adults, would be bored in no time if they had to laboriously conjugate regular and irregular Spanish verbs. Spanish for kids avoids all that, but still manages to teach the kids the basics nevertheless.

Children are able to learn Spanish fast. The younger a child is when they are first taught a language, the sooner they will master it. A five-year-old could learn fairly good Spanish in a matter of a couple of months, while a twelve-year-old might take more than six months. It is also dependent on their exposure. If they are only exposed to Spanish in school, but not in the house, they will take longer to learn.

Kids are able to learn Spanish quickly. Children soon discover that Spanish for kids shows them Español es un lenguaje fonético y la pronunciación es muy clara. Unlike English where the ending, "ough" for example, can be pronounced at least half a dozen different ways, in Spanish the pronunciation is clear, straightforward and phonetic.

Normally, the second to last syllable is where the emphasis goes, unless the word has a letter with an accent on it. The word, "farmacia" has the emphasis on the second "a" as there is no accented letter. The word, "problema" has its emphasis on the letter "e."

But when there is an accented letter, it becomes even easier. You simply place the emphasis of the word on that letter. For example, "fútbol" is that ever-popular ball game, or soccer, as it is known in the USA. The emphasis is naturally on the emphasized letter "u," and sounds more or less the same as the word in English. Another example is the word for "plastic" that is spelt as "plástica." Without the accented first "a" it would be pronounced as "plastEEca."

Spanish for kids should be fun. Remember, it shouldn't have been too long ago that they started to learn English. This is why children they have the ability to adapt so rapidly; they are always learning so much daily that another language is something they take in their stride without batting an eyelid.

If you are teaching a child who have not learnt how to read yet, then you should make them use all their senses, whenever possible, to learn the language. Computers are good for this in many ways as they will be able to see diagrams and animations besides hearing the language.

Employ the family pet as well. Your children will be amused to call the dog "un perro," or the cat "un gato." Of course, they will need to get the genders right as well! If the dog and cat are female, then they will become "una perra" and "una gata" respectively.

Normally, the younger the child is when they are first exposed to Spanish, the quicker they will be able to learn it. If you make the learning interesting, kids will not view it as a tedious chore that they need to go through. Also, teach them helpful phrases, such as, "may I have a glass of milk?" (¿Puede darme un vaso de leche?), and begin using them in your daily conversations. They will take to it naturally. Spanish lessons for kids can be easy and fun too.

Spanish For Dummies- How To Learn Spanish Quick

learn spanish quick

Spanish For Dummies is one of the books in the successful "For Dummies…" series. It obviously targets the Spanish language and sets out to help you learn Spanish quick in a simple and interesting.

Spanish For Dummies has been written by those who know the language best at the Berlitz language school. The book features common expressions and phrases that you will find helpful while you are on vacation, and attempts to get you familar with the language.

The Spanish For Dummies book describes itself as being, "…the ultimate guide for speaking Spanish quick and easy." The book is comes with a CD-ROM, allowing you to listen the language spoken by native speakers.

In some way, you can say that any starter Spanish learning course as being Spanish for dummies , in a general sense that is. The idea is that it can take a beginner who has no knowledge about Spanish, from knowing absolutely nothing to at least speaking some common phrases in Spanish.

There are plenty of courses like that you'll be pleased to hear. Nowadays, language courses have started concentrating on the fun element of learning a language, downplaying the need for grammar, syntax and cultural nuance, and replacing it with shortcuts, tricks and tips to actually speaking the language with other native speakers.

Grammar certainly has its place. Spanish grammar is fairly different from English grammar. That's why they will describe a new car as "un coche nuevo," literally, "a car new." There is not a lot you can do about that other than just learning it.

Translating literally from English to Spanish is a very bad idea. That would come out as, in our example, "un nuevo coche," and would sound just as bad to a Spanish person as "a car new" sounds to you! As a rough rule of thumb, put the adjective, the describing word, after the noun, the thing being described. This is the opposite of the normal rules in English.

The Spanish for dummies type of courses tend rather to concentrate on the easier aspects of things. There are a large number of Spanish terms, for instance, that are very similar to their English equivalents. Most of the time, they change only with the suffixs. Words in English ending in "ant" often become words ending in "ante" in Spanish. Por ejemple (that's Spanish and I'm sure you are able to guess what it means), "important" becomes "importante."

But that's not all…

A fair number of the "ent" ending English words become "ente" in Spanish, such as "evidente." A fair number of the "ible" and "able" ending words stay the same in both languages: comparable, combustible. A number of Spanish words merely drop English endings, such as the "ate" ending words where "participate" becomes "participa" and "terminate" becomes "termina."

How many English words can you think of that suffix in "ary"? There are dozens and you've just learned as whole lot more Spanish words, because you can adapt the English to Spanish by changing the "ary" ending to an "ario" ending.

Rocket Spanish - Does Rocket Spanish Worth Your Money Or Just a Waste Of Time?

Mauricio Evlampieff was the creator of the most popular Spanish course called Rocket Spanish. This is one of the most economical market options available  and this has made it very popular with those who want to learn Spanish. They guarantee you will be speaking Spanish fluently and easily within 3 months. As a student trying to learn Spanish language I bought it. I had purchased other courses in the past, so how did Rocket Spanish fare?

To my knowledge, there are no other online Spanish language programs that are as affordable as Rocket Spanish. This actually has nothing to do with its quality. Rocket spanish is really over delievered when seen in that context.

Although I have actually used the Spanish language software, Rosetta Stone, I must note that Rocket Spanish costs much less. Rosetta Stone is a good course but targeted toward experienced speakers of the language who's trying to further their education, and not so effective for beginners. Rocket Spanish will teach you the fundamentals of Spanish without breaking the bank. The extra material that is not beginner friendly has been taken out.

Pimsleur is another course which emerged long ago. This is primarily an audio course made up of 100 lessons of twenty minute each. Though quite pricey, costs almost 9 times as much as Rocket Spanish. It's definitely a very useful, very broad course -- but I'm not sure that it really worth that much.

As you can easily see, Rocket Spanish is among the cheapest solutions. It is also an excellent selection for beginners. You will learn the language solidly if you successfully complete the audio lessons, provided games, and reading materials. I have purchased many courses, and Rocket Spanish has definitely given me the biggest bang for my buck. Learning Spanish will be so enjoyable that you may not be able to stop!

To learn more about rocket spanish benefits and features and why is the top-notch, and best value for money course around? Then go over to my blog now to read my Rocket Spanish review and final recommendation.

Speak Fluent Spanish Fast by Learning Spanish Phrases

Taking the plunge to learn another language like Spanish is a big undertaking but it can be fun and rewarding, especially if the reason you're learning it is to travel abroad. It's not every Spanish program how ever that will use the best methods to teach you.

When you're learning a second language there are a couple of ways you can do it.

Memorization is the first method of learning a new language.Memorization is where you start building a huge vocabulary of words in Spanish by memorizing the word in Spanish compared with the equivalent word in English.

This method is the one mainly used in school second language courses. The draw back here is that most students build a big vocabulary but rarely learn to piece those words together to make sentences. This does not aid the individual in becoming a good Spanish speaker, nor can they communicate well.

The second method of learning Spanish that is used by most audio and software Spanish programs is instructing students to learn Spanish phrases.

For example, if you learn how to say "I need to go to"in Spanish you can then create full sentences simply by adding other words and phrases to the end of the single phrase.

So an easy example is you learn how to say "I need to go to the Air port" how ever if you also learn how to say the grocery store and the movies you can exchange either of those phrases for the air port and have totally different sentences. With this type of learning it becomes much easier to speak conversational Spanish and communicate with others in a native speaking Spanish country.

A really easy way to learn to speak this way on your own is using Tell Me More Spanish software.Tell Me More Spanish is one of the top rated learn to speak Spanish programs available for home use, it's speech recognition helps you perfect your pronunciation of words and helps you learn near perfect conversational skills.

You can purchase less expensive learn Spanish products, how ever the quality of lessons and content in this package can't be beat. You can read more about what others think of this program in these Tell me More Spanish reviews.

If you choose to learn Spanish phrases rather then going the memorization route you'll find yourself conversational much faster and learning the basics in less time. Why spend your time filling your head with hundreds of words in Spanish that you would rarely use in every day context?Doesn't make good sense, or use of time.

What is the most optimal ways to pick up Spanish?

learn spanish quick

If you desire to learn Spanish as a second language, it is a great choice - Spanish is one of the most frequently-used foreign languages in America and other Latin countries, such as Mexico and South American countries.

Due to the immigration population to the United States, there are a fair number of people in the States who do not possess a lot of knowledge of Spanish, and immigrants may not have a fluent command of English either. This makes it hard to communicate. So what's the best way to learn Spanish fast? You can pick up Spanish several diverse ways, even beyond what you were likely taught in school.

Many people want to pick up Spanish in the same method they were taught during school - textbooks and group conversations. This, unfortunately, doesn't usually work out, because textbooks can be costly, and they're not the best way to learn Spanish quickly because they teach you the formal way that the language is used.

Native Spanish speakers will tend to put the lingual dialect into their speech, which not all Spanish textbooks cover, so you might be lost when you try to understand them. Group conversation, however, does have its benefits. You have the oportunity to interact in conversation and work with people who are picking up Spanish the same way as you.

The drawback is that the group moves in a certain pace, and you need to keep up with the group, otherwise you'll lag behind. If you can work well in a group dynamic, attending Spanish classes are one of the most effective ways to learn Spanish.

You can also learn Spanish through online courses; there are websites that offer free Spanish lessons online, or they provide a full step by step learning system. These are one of the most effective ways to pick up Spanish, especially if audio tapes are included. Audio tapes allow you to hear how Spanish is supposed to be sound, and the text element of online courses make it the most effective way to pick up Spanish because you can both hear and see the words at your own pace.

One of the most optimal Spanish courses online that I've come across is Rocket Spanish - it has a full complement of all parts of the Spanish language that you'll need to get by in daily conversations, and in addtion, you can learn at completely your own pace when using online courses.

The problem here is that there is no one to actually hold a conversation with. Learning a language in theory is all well and good, but to really get it into your system, you need to have someone to talk to you in the language, as you would have to think fast about as the conversation is going on. Even so, online courses are still one of the most effective ways of learning Spanish.

These are just a few of the most optimal ways to learn Spanish quick. Probably the most effective way to learn Spanish would be to combine all these methods into a single program for yourself by setting up a learning schedule according to your learning needs and the time you have available. Ideally, one of the most optimal methods to pick up Spanish is to set apart half an hour per day. If you have audio tapes, you can listen to them in the car on the way to running errands.

How To Learn Spanish Fast

What Are Your Reasons For Learning Spanish?

One of the principal reasons why you may want to learn Spanish is because it is a major language, which is continually becoming more popular. It is therefore a good idea to learn this language and even make it your second language, especially as it is ranked number four as most spoken language by people all around the world. In addition, learning Spanish may help you in your business dealings.

There could of course be a number of reasons to learn Spanish - for example:

- You might want to go on a holiday to a Spanish speaking country

- To move somewhere where Spanish is spoken

- To meet other people who are interested in learning Spanish

- To just learn another language because you enjoy it

Whatever you reasons are, you will probably want to find a course which meets your needs, and in any case, the chances are you will want to find out how to learn Spanish fast. As well, you will also want to find a course which makes it fun to learn Spanish, so that you will be eager to get to your next lesson, rather than having to force yourself to study your next lesson.

Finding A Spanish Course

Compared to the cost of going to a language school, you will find that home study courses, where you can learn Spanish in your own environment, are in fact much better value for money, and besides, you can study at your own convenience, wherever you choose. Or, with some of these courses, you can burn them to a CD or copy them to an mp3 player, and then practice while you are travelling, or waiting somewhere.

Modern Spanish courses are available on various types of media and learning modalities. For example, there is spanish language learning software, there are spanish on line courses, and there are courses which are based on mp3 audio files, which you can take along on your mp3 player.

The type of course you decide on should also be based on the way in which you learn best. For instance, if you are primarily someone who is an auditory learner - then an audio mp3 course might be best for you. Alternatively, if you are principally a visually based learner, then a book, or a software program where you can see the written material might be the best choice.

All in all, it is best to find a course which is very effective, which you will enjoy studying on a regular basis, and which will make it as easy to learn Spanish as possible.

Picking Up Helpful Spanish Phrases Effectively

learn spanish fast

Common Spanish phrases found in Spanish phrase books can be helpful and many people buy them before going for vacation to Mexico or Spain. However, in real life, most Spanish learners discover that phrase books lock you into a fixed way of saying something, and life isn't like that at all.

Having the ability to say, "Can you tell me if this is the 10.15 or the 10.30 train leaving for Barcelona?" is all very well. But when you are in Bolivia and it's a bus leaving at midnight you are hoping to catch to some remote village you can't even pronounce, it isn't much help. You need to know more than just easy Spanish words, or at least you need to be able to adapt the Spanish phrases you know.

It is helpful to begin by learning the useful Spanish phrases. Learn how to greet people by saying "good day" (buenas días), "good afternoon" (buenas tardes), and "good evening" (buenas noches). You can always just say "hola" (hello) if you're not sure which one to use.

You can naturally progress from there to a relatively more complicated greeting: "¿Cómo estás?" which means, "how are you?" However, that's a little bit formal and stilted. Actually, most people just say, "que tal?" If someone says that to you, answer them, "bien, ¿y tu?" (I'm well, and you?). They will be impressed with your command of their language, believe me!

In keeping with the infamous Spanish phrase books, you need to also learn how to ask for something if you are in a Spanish café or restaurant. As in most English speaking countries, native Spanish speakers have a variety of courses to their meals. The first is the, "primero plato," the second is the "segundo plato," and the third is the "tercero plato."

You may wish to have a cup of water (un vaso de agua) with your meal, or a coffee (un café). If you want your coffee to have milk, then it should be, "un café con leche." A glass of red wine (un vaso de vino tinto), or white wine (un vaso de vino blanco) may also go down well. Maybe you want an entire bottle of wine (una botella de vino). And now you can ask for one that's either red or white too.

You may have noticed that in all those Spanish phrases I didn't say "please" once. Because we do it usually in English, we assume that it is the same for other languages too. In fact, we typically can't comprehend why anyone would want to be so rude as to not say "please" when asking for something.

It just simply is not a Spanish custom. On the contarary, they regard it as rude if you do say, "please" with everything. For example, if you were to say to a Spanish barman, "un vaso de vino tinto, pro favor," he would probably get a little insulted.

Picture a man who has been standing at the bar in an English speaking country waiting for a long time to be served. Finally, he speaks to the barman in an impatient voice, "a glass of red wine, PLEASE." The "please" at the end is said in a rather sarcastic way, and that's pretty much how it feels to a native Spanish speaker when you add "please" in Spanish. Avoid saying it and you'll keep yourslef out of needless trouble.

A Creative Way Of Learning Spanish

learn spanish quickly

It's simple to learn Spanish fast if you begin with the fundamentals. You may be delighted by how much Spanish you can learn by listening to a cd while being on the road every day. Just get down the easy verbs, some food terms, and maybe a few adjectives. Typically, a fair number of learners learn Spanish quickly by beginning to say the alphabet and practicing greetings such as "hello" and "goodnight," but studying the facial features will let you to have some variety and spice as you learn Spanish.

A very fun simple to begin with while in the process of learning Spanish is the descriptions of the face. The face is recognized as the front part of the head. It includes the lips, nose, eyes, cheeks, eyebrows, nose, hair, teeth, lips, and chin.  The face works as a tool of expression and identity, and people's faces are the body part that is most commonly used to distinguish them. Often caricatures will overemphasize certain parts of the face in order to make them instantly recognizable to the people who may be familiar with those memorable features.

If you have difficulty remembering other people's names, you may want to become very familiar with the features of the face. The size of someone's eyes allow a mother know instantly which one of your children you are refering to.

It is good to be able to speak about someone's face in Spanish because if you meet someone in a Spanish-speaking country you may have to describe that person to someone else who speaks Spanish. Also, describing people's facial features in Spanish will help you to learn Spanish in an interesting and non-conventional way.

To begin with, if you see a person having a thin face, you can say "una cara delgada". In English, it means "She has a thin face." If you meet someone having a chubby face, you would exclaim "una cara regordete." If you see someone you would like to describe as having had a face lift, you would say un lifting or un "estiramiento facial." If someone has a face with a lot of wrinkles, you would say "arugas." In the event that someone's face is cheerful, you could say "una cara alegre." In the event that someone has a big nose you would say "una nariz grande."  If someone has eyes that look sunken, you would exclaim "ojos hundidos."  If you see someone with shifty eyes, you would exclaim "ojos furtivos."

Those are just some easy Spanish words that you may use to describe people's faces as you continue to learn Spanish. With these Spanish words, you won't be at a loss for words when you meet people on the street.

In order to avoid the usual way of learning Spanish such as getting down the alphabet and, "What's your name?" you may want to contemplate picking up the physical anatomy in Spanish or learning how to say the different parts of an existing suburban community. When you deviate from the norm, it not only can be interesting to learn Spanish, but it also can be very thrilling.

Learning Spanish Can Be Easy When You Where To Start

learn Spanish quickly

Everybody who is starting in Spanish looks for some easy Spanish to try and get to grips with it. Often they are amazed to realize that it is much easier that they thought it was. Spanish and English share common roots with Latin in particular, and to a lesser degree, Greek also. This means that many of the words merely need a different suffix from English to become Spanish – and they will mean exactly the same thing as well! Doesn't that sound like easy Spanish? It does and it is.

Take "plastic," for an instance. That word is "plastico" in Spanish. Well, you asked for easy Spanish, and it surely can't get any easier than this. When English-speaking people think about learning Spanish, they usually view it as one big problem. "No hay problema", and if you can't figure out what that Spanish phrase means, then you do have a problem. The best way to learn Spanish quickly is to learn all the easy words first. The grammar may be a little different, but it isn't really that big of a deal. Take for example the phrase mentioned above: "no hay problema." It literally means, "not there is problem." It shouldn't take long for you to adjust to this way of thinking and make that, "there's no problem," its English equivalent."

However, let's stick with the easy Spanish words first. It's the endings that change for many words, and it appears to be a regular thing too. As in the instance of "plastic" becoming "plastico," many other words ending in "ic" change to "ico" in Spanish. Clásico, cómico, histérico, metódico, técnico are all instances that you should have little difficulty in figuring what the English equivalent terms are. It's not just the "ic" ending words either. Easy Spanish gets even easier when you bring in all the other groups, such as "abundant" becoming "abundante" in Spanish, "monument" becomes "monumento," "pianist" becomes "pianista," "indication" becomes "indicación," "patent" becomes "patente," "religious" becomes "religioso."

Easy Spanish can be pretty easy many times. How do you spell, "central"? You spell it quite simply as, "central." The pronunciation is different from the English (you emphasize the "a" and not the "n"), but it's amazingly alike and definitely a good example of easy Spanish. There are others too. Other instances include words suchas, "animal," "noble," "admirable," and "director." Most of the times, these kind of words have the same meaning as their English counterparts, but at times they are somewhat different. For instance, the English word, "conductor" when applied to a person normally conjures up a picture of someone leading an orchestra. However, in Spanish, it means the driver of a car.

Sometimes, easy Spanish needs some form of creative thinking. A car is "coche" in Spanish. You may think initially that it's nothing like the English language, but think back to the time of highwaymen traveling the English countryside looking to hold up a coach. Coaches were the cars of those days, and the Spanish word, "coche" is just the modern equivalent.

There certainly are Spanish words that have no resemblance to their English equivelents, but that is to be expected; otherwise Spanish and English would be one language. Easy Spanish definitely exists, and it's easy to pick it up too. You really can learn Spanish easy, quickly, and systematicly by looking up the similarities between English and Spanish words.

Learn To Speak Spanish Quickly

Spanish culture in America

I had a friend that was getting relocated for his job and just his luck he was getting relocated to another country and it happened to be a Spanish speaking country and he does not speak a word of Spanish, so he marched into the local bookstore and announced "I want to learn basic Spanish words."

Of course he will need to learn a lot more than basic Spanish names but for his initial trip over there his announcement of " I want to learn basic Spanish words" indicated that he knew he had quite a climb ahead of him.Providing the right tools to learn Spanish is required in order to speak to Spanish people in a Spanish speaking nation. If you make a commitment and stick to learning Spanish, then you will be on the right path and get to where you want to be.

Basic words in any language are probably best used in basic phrases.  When you say I want to learn basic Spanish words then you are saying that you want to learn things like "hello," "thank you," "please," and "I have no idea."  But being able to form those basic words into basic phrases is very important to effective communication and when say I want to learn basic Spanish words then you need to take the time to not only learn the words but also learn how they interact with each other when forming a sentence.

Lucky For You

Spanish is often said to be one of the easiest languages to learn because the structure of the language is so basic and fits together so well.  If English is your native language then you are more apt to be able to learn Spanish at a basic level quickly because the word for word learning curve for Spanish culture in America is usually one to one.Other languages have some words to compliment one English word, whereas there's a direct translation from English to Spanish for many words.English speaking people are less confused when learning Spanish.

My friend learned his basic Spanish and then took the new job overseas.  He is pretty happy after a couple of years but I am noticing that his English is getting worse.  I guess that is life.

Learning Spanish Lessons

Learn Basic Spanish

Spanish lessons are offered as elective courses in some schools. The Internet also offers a lot of resources to help the average user in learning this language that has become a popular second language all over the world. Because Spanish is the fourth most-used language in the world, it is not surprising that a lot of the dialects of many countries all over the world have similarities in Spanish.

To learn Spanish lessons will effectively enhance the understanding of the English language because the usual learning sessions involve direct comparisons between the grammar and sentence structuring of these two famous languages.

Of course, learning Spanish could not be done in one day, but having an open mind will surely speed up the process. The sentence structuring and pronunciation of Spanish is quite different from English. Internet programs that offer audio or video files to learn Spanish lessons with native speakers are therefore the best way to understand the language more effectively. For those who want to learn on their own, a lot of programs also offer lessons in text format.

The first thing to understand when learning a new language is the alphabet. The Spanish alphabet is almost the same to that of English, but with some significant differences including accents in the vowels and addition of ñ and double ll. The way the letters are read is also different. W is "uve doble," X is "equis," and Y is "I griega." It would be surprising for the English speaker to learn that the letters v and b do not differ in sound in Spanish; their difference lies in the usage so that B is often called as "big B," and V as "little V." Also, the accents in the Spanish vowels do not make these as a new set of letters unlike most European languages. Unlike English, too, the letters of the Spanish alphabet are of "feminine gender" and thus start with "la."

But like English, it is easy to learn Spanish lessons because the words are usually read as presented phonetically. Moreover, a lot of English words are surprisingly similar to Spanish, and these can be deduced easily. For example, "música" can be conveniently related as "music," and "embajada" is surely "embassy."

Some rules based on the Spanish alphabet should be remembered in learning the language. C is read as "ce" as in "cereal" when it comes before an e or an i. It is also notable to remember that a lot of Spanish words start with q unlike in English: example "quién" for "who" and "que" for "what." The q is usually pronounced as k, and the u is not read so that "que" is read as "ke."

The easiest to learn would be phrases used for greetings. "Hola" is easily translated as "hello" while the common word "adiós" means "good bye." "Muy bien, gracias" means "Very well, thank you," and "Mucho gusto, encantado" is "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Spanish is an enigmatic language that can translate a simple word such as "you" to different forms to suit formality. Learning it can therefore be really interesting and rewarding.

How You Can Pick Up Spanish Fast

learn spanish quickly

Since Spanish is one of the most widely-used languages in the US, it is makes sense to start learning it as soon as possible. The population of Spanish-speaking immigrants is increasing rapidly, and a lot of them may not have learned fluent English. Because of this reason, there's a great demand to learn to communicate, read and understand the Spanish language. There are plenty of places and tutorials both online and offline where you can learn Spanish quickly and be speaking the language in practically no time.

To learn Spanish well, you need to realize that it is both different and similar to English. More so than, say, Chinese or Indian is to English. If you really want to learn Spanish fast, you should start by using dictionaries online and things like that. Good Spanish-English dictionaries will give you both the English word you're looking for, a guide to how to pronounce it and a meaning of the word in Spanish.

If you're Spanish-speaking who wants to pick up English, it also applies in reverse. Or, instead of using a dictionary, what you could do is look for Spanish textbooks. These generally cluster their vocabulary words as concepts, so that you can learn to hold different aspects of a conversation and pick up the language slowly.

For instance, you might learn the basic foods in one section, how to tell time in another and verb conjugations. To learn Spanish quickly, this really is one of the more effective ways. However, the best method to learn Spanish quickly is to be able to hear it in action. People don't only write to one another usually - most of the time, communication is done through conversation.

This causes some people to have Spanish problems with picking up the accent. They may know the words if they see them on paper. Speaking the language themselves is relatively easy, but hearing it from someone else is a bit more challenging. You can learn Spanish more effectively if you actually find audio tapes to listen to as you practice the words, and learn to get familiar with Spanish phrases through sound alone.

Furthermore, if you learn with audio tapes, you can gradually build up speed with talking and comprehending what's being said. You'll learn Spanish more effectively this way. If you're speaking with a native Spanish-speaking person, unless they know you're still learning the language, they are going to speak at full speed, and you'll be lost as to what they're saying. These are just some things you can do to begin to learn how to speak Spanish.

Of course, it's usually ideal  to take a formal course if you can, but this option isn't always available. Also, you don't really learn in the classroom the actual nuances of Spanish, so you come off as far too formal for conversational Spanish. Various ways like online classes, dictionaries, textbooks or audio tapes are usually the most effective in giving a person a real grasp of the language so they can learn Spanish fast. To pick up Spanish well, you should usually practice for a mininum of an hour each day.

Why It Pays To Pick Up Spanish

You may never have thought of learning another language before, but there are tons of reasons why learning Spanish can improve your life. Many people go through their entire lives without knowing more than one language.  Yet, others like the challenge, and find many reasons to learn Spanish.

If you travel to a Spanish-speaking country, of course it makes a difference by knowing the language.  If you know how to speak Spanish before you go, it is easy to take care of your own needs while staying at your destination.

It will be easy for you to ask for directions and understand the answers.  It will be a piece of cake for you to figure out the menu at a foreign restaurant and help the others to order.  If you learn Spanish, your vacation will be pleasant rather than frustrating.  This is because you can communicate adequately enough to respond to situations on the fly.

Another reason to learn Spanish is to be able to speak to others in this country.  For example, a Spanish speaking person might be sitting next to you at a sporting event.  If you can't speak Spanish, you will be reduced to smiling and gesturing.  However, if you've taken the time to learn Spanish, you can enjoy a polite conversation with the person and may even make a new friend.

Furthermore, you can help out in emergencies if you know Spanish.  Many times, there may be a Spanish speaking person who is in need of assistance.  If no one trying to come to their aid can speak their language, their troubles could get worse. Yet, if you speak Spanish, you can make yourself useful in situations like these by finding out what the person needs.

Every major city in the US have significant Latino populations.  To reach out to more customers, most businesses will do well if some of their employees speak Spanish.  These employees can be clerks in stores, receptionists in office buildings, or anyone who deals with many people.  This service is helpful to both the business and the consumer.

Businesses that deal through the internet, phone, and correspondence with companies or customers in Spanish speaking countries often have to bridge a communication gap.  In many situations the employees, especially in small companies, just fumble through it without really fully understanding the language.  These business dealings can go much better if employees will learn Spanish.

It's fun to learn Spanish with your children.  It gives them a new skill which they can use later in life.  At the same time, you get to spend quality time with them doing something you can all enjoy.  The kids will take to it quickly because language learning comes easiest to the young.  This is a good reason to learn Spanish with your kids.

If you like the arts, you may have a good reason to picking up Spanish.  If you know how to read it, you can read all the works of the great Spanish speaking writers in the original language.  You can watch foreign films from Spain or Latin America without relying on the subtitles, and you can understand the words of Spanish songs.

These are just a few of the reasons people have to learn Spanish.  Some people's reasons are much more personal than this.  No matter what your reason, you will find that you enjoy learning Spanish as much as you will enjoy being able to speak it.
